Wrapping an over-grip tape maybe a simple task but to your surprise not many players do know how to do it the right way. SomeĀ of the most common mistakes are:
- Less over lapping which leads to the tap coming off the racket handle over time. (Can be dangerous!)
- People tend to follow the factory wrapping style which comes together with a brand new racket. It’s usually catered for right handed.
- Some people will usually, replace the grip over the wooden handle. In the long run, your wooden handle will deteriorate , especially if you sweat a lot.
- Customization, with racket handle wrapped to your preferred style such as thickness, a swell at the back of the handle(for less chance for the racket to slipped out of your hand), length of your wrap and etc.
Here’s a brief idea on how to wrap the grip. After getting the idea of how to do it, please feel free to do it your preferred style. And for right handed players, just do it the opposite side. Make sure the grain pattern of the wrap is pointing upwards to your left (for right handed)
